Description

Dragonfly MkII Tailwheel

Mostly built under 101.28 but finally rego’d as VH experimental VH-HIM.

Changed to RAAus 19 – 4527 in 2006. Now with MTOW 544kg but previously in GA MTOW is approx 590kg with the carbon fibre spar design and larger HP motor. Always attracts attention wherever you fly!

These are easy tailwheelers and despite unconventional set up they are very docile flyers and handle just like a normal aircraftCanard confers anti-stall properties, and 2 flying wings means less buffet in turbulence!

Engine is 2.2 Jabiru (80HP) with 54hrs – all safety bulletins complied with. Jabiru 2 blade timber prop.

Airframe also 54hrs. Full composite construction. Airframe was contracted out to experienced builder as was paintwork. Jabiru did engine mounts and firewall forward composites work. Engine installation is very tidy. Dirk Ostermann the original owner/ builder is an electrical engineer and did all wiring. Was built at Parafield and Murray Bridge in SA. Dirk showed me receipts for work etc in excess of $70K. I bought plane from him about 20 months ago. Flew it back from SA to Coffs Harbour. Reason for sale – have taken up paragliding with my wife and we are flying very little powered now. Have also sold my Long Ez for same reason.

Plane was first on register in 1996  and first flown in 2000, but had only 24.7hrs when I purchased it.  Hadn’t been flown since 2000 but regularly run-up . Aircraft performs very well when compared with other very expensive factory 2 seaters and has a very wide cockpit - same as C172.

Has:

Full spats. Fully enclosed bubble canopy in exc cond with slight tint. ELT. Dual fuel pumps. Emerg fuel circuit. OAT. IAT. EGTs. CHTs. Manifold pressure. RPM. Burglar alarm. Fuel flow. Fuel press. Fuel gauge with new sender. Eng hr
